Welcome to the World of Tru!

This is my first official blog post…yaaay!  This is my little realm where I share everything related to ethical and sustainable fashion.  I may post about other products that I come across that I want you all to be in the know about such as beauty, children’s items, or anything new in the world of ethical products or the environment, but for the most part these blogs will be geared towards building awareness about making conscious choices in fashion.

My hope is that through awareness and education and creating a strong movement that supports and champions ethical fashion, this will become the standard one day rather than the exception.

Having recently undergone changes in the way I shop myself, I can attest to the fact that it’s no easy feat finding fashion brands that uphold high standards of ethics in regards to labour standards, wages, the environement etc. I mostly shop online as these brands are not the ones you find in the mall however, it’s not always possible to do that when in a pinch for time like having to buy a gift or immediate items for kids, so it’s all about doing the best we can with what we have available.  The key message is to keep supporting ethical brands whenever we can so they can continue to provide us with a wider range of selection and in time this market will grow.

Because I am already doing all the research behind which brands are ethical, I thought it would be a great idea to share my findings with all of you to save you the time!  So, in future blog posts you can expect to find out about new labels I have discovered, or old ones I have been pleasantly surprised about, and will highlight brands made in Canada, USA and Europe, which are countries that uphold more stringent labour and environmental laws over their overseas counterparts.  I hope you will join me in my discoveries….

  1. Seema,
Great idea for a blog! Hard to find much information about ethical brands unless you are committed to search for it.

All the best with this new exciting endeavor!

    1. Thanks for your comment Muhammad 🙂 Trust me, even when you are searching for it it’s not always easy to find what you’re looking for. With time, hopefully that will change but it starts with awareness.
